Cake Sans originated from letters drawn in 2006 for use in the logo of Bureau Jeugdzorg Noord-Holland. Back then, it was a stencil alphabet consisting only of capitals. Pieter developed the original design into the current bold weight, then added light and regular weights. With its open letterforms and narrow width, Cake Sans remains supremely legible while fitting more letters on a line. Its squarish shapes with straight sides feel equally at home on paper and the pixel grid. Pieter introduced a few idiosyncratic details to add warmth and whimsy to the space-saving sans serif. Cake Sans’s letterforms may be condensed, but its vision is expansive. Besides Latin Extended, the font family supports Vietnamese and the Cyrillic alphabet.
